1878: moment to moment
‘1878: moment to moment’ is part development of Tim Fitzpatrick’s 2015 work ‘1878 and an inexplicable series of visions’, and part deeper exploration of the pioneering image sequences by the 19th century photographer Eadweard Muybridge. Muybridge created thousands of photographic studies of human and animal locomotion, but it is the image sequence of the galloping horse Sallie Gardner that provides the singular inspiration for this work. With sound and texts alongside the original sequence and representations of the sequence, the work sets out to locate a balancing point between moments recorded in time and in our memories and the point at which those moments make a transition into an affirmation of the passage of time. Tim is a founder member of the Anstruther community arts group ‘The Red Field’. Recent projects include a reworking of the periodic table in collaboration with astronomer Anne-Marie Weijmans for the ‘International Year of Light’ project Shine.
