It’s all coming together…

Preparations for our official launch day on Saturday, June 18 are heating up, and the Cupar Arts Festival team have been working hard to create a collection of fantastic opening events for our fifth festival. As well as our launch party at the Festival Hub at 12 noon, visitors can look forward to street food, live music, tours of the Thermos Museum, and the Caravan Obscura, which offers people the chance to step inside a world of optical illusions created by artist Kenny Bean using mirrors, lenses and light – all inside a caravan, of course. Anthony Schrag Interview

‘It’s not my job to provide answers. It’s just my job to provide questions.’ I met artist Anthony Schrag this week in Cupar’s Haugh Park to talk about his upcoming project for Cupar Arts Festival, provisionally titled ‘What Lies Beneath Cupar?’ and inspired by the hidden waterways beneath the town. The familiar pink, domed building, home to the town clock, sits on the corner of St Catherine Street and Crossgate, and was probably built by the former Royal Burgh in the… Read More »A New Lease of Life

Jacqueline Bulnes & PierGiuseppe DiTanno with Panini 2 Life

Jacqueline Bulnes & PierGiuseppe DiTanno with Panini 2 Life Don’t walk, WALK This group of visiting artists from Italy created a series of evocative and memorable performances at the town’s railway station. With captivating storytelling through dance and movement, accompanied by a haunting soundtrack, the four performers captured the imagination of festival visitors, passengers and the local community with many people caught by surprise as they arrived at the station or disembarked from a train to find the platforms and waiting areas transformed. The Fates – also known as furies when displeased, and graces when happy – are three female figures – sometimes seen as girl, mother and crone, and which link to the artist’s current work on medieval wheels or 7 ages of life. The Three Fates were shown in the town’s George… Read More »Kirsty Whiten
