Based in Quebec City, Canada, artist Cynthia Dinan-Mitchell in one of the festival’s invited artists for 2016 and we are delighted to welcome her to Cupar. Her evocative installation installed in the town’s former courtroom, ‘The willow tree motif with a certain “je ne sais quoi”, makes references to the traditional willow motif, which was originally based on a story of impossible love between the daughter of a wealthy mandarin and a humble servant.

Set against the backdrop of her new installation, Cynthia will give a talk about her artwork and her inspiration for this new work, along with some insights into working as an artist and printmaker in Quebec City.

Cynthia has exhibited her work in numerous galleries and artist centres, including the National Museum of Fine Arts of Québec and the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre in Thailand. She lives and works in Québec City.
