The Three Fates

Researching and developing imagery from the fates of myth and legend, Kirsty Whiten made a series of drawings specifically for the festival, which were reproduced as giant ‘paste-ups’.

The Fates – also known as furies when displeased, and graces when happy – are three female figures – sometimes seen as girl, mother and crone, and which link to the artist’s current work on medieval wheels or 7 ages of life. The Three Fates were shown in the town’s George Inn Pend, one of the town’s larger closes and a main thoroughfare connecting Crossgate to other parts of the town.
